Pune : A shocking incident unfolded in Pune’s Bibwewadi area on Monday morning when a man stabbed and killed his younger brother during a dispute over alcohol addiction. The elder brother was reportedly fed up with his sibling’s constant harassment and joblessness due to his drinking habits.
The deceased has been identified as Pravin alias Hrithik Dattatray Navale (24), a resident of Ganeshnagar, Bibwewadi. The accused, Aniket Dattatray Navale (26), who is Pravin’s elder brother and resides in Upper Indiranagar, Bibwewadi, has been arrested by the police.
According to police reports, both brothers lived in the same locality. Pravin was addicted to alcohol and had no steady job. He would frequently harass family members for money to buy liquor. On Monday morning, Aniket went to speak to Pravin in an attempt to make him understand and stop causing trouble for the family. However, the conversation escalated into a heated argument.
As the argument turned violent, a physical fight broke out between the two. In a fit of rage, Aniket allegedly attacked Pravin with a knife. Locals rushed a seriously injured Pravin to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead during treatment.
Senior Police Inspector Ashwini Satpute of Bibwewadi Police Station confirmed the incident and stated that Aniket has been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway.
