Ayodhya, 25 November 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday ceremonially hoisted the saffron Dharma Dhwaj at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, marking the official completion of the temple’s construction — a historic milestone for the nation.
Mr. Modi unfurled a right-angled triangular saffron flag standing 10 feet high and 20 feet long, featuring the image of a radiant Sun symbolising Lord Ram’s valour, an ‘Om’, and the Kovidara tree, considered sacred in Hindu tradition. The ceremony was performed amid Vedic chants and temple rituals inside the sanctum premises.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were present during the event, along with other dignitaries and senior temple officials. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel had also attended the earlier Dharma Dhwaj ceremony connected to the completion phase.
Temple authorities described the flag-hoisting as the final symbolic step before the full public opening of all temple sections. With structural work now complete, finishing touches and peripheral development are expected to continue as the site prepares for a significant rise in pilgrim inflow.
Security measures across Ayodhya were intensified, with additional deployment around the temple complex and key access routes to manage the large gathering of devotees.
The Ram Temple project, which began with the foundation stone-laying in 2020, has now reached its defining moment — fulfilling a long-awaited cultural and religious aspiration for millions across the world.
