Mumbai: The Maharashtra Budget 2026 was presented by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the state legislature, outlining major welfare initiatives, infrastructure projects and economic reforms for the coming financial year. The Maharashtra Budget 2026 focuses on supporting farmers, empowering women, boosting youth employment and strengthening infrastructure across the state.

One of the biggest highlights of the Maharashtra Budget 2026 is a farm loan waiver of up to ₹2 lakh for eligible farmers with outstanding loans till September 2025. Additionally, farmers who repay loans on time will receive an incentive of ₹50,000, providing further relief to the agricultural sector.

Meanwhile, the government has allocated major funding for the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, which aims to empower women financially. The scheme will continue with dedicated budget provisions, reflecting the administration’s focus on social welfare.

Furthermore, the Maharashtra Budget 2026 announced a ₹20,000 crore electricity bill waiver for farmers using 7.5 HP agricultural pumps. As a result, farming costs are expected to reduce and rural incomes may improve.

Infrastructure development also received strong emphasis in the Maharashtra Budget 2026. The government announced a new underground Metro Line-11 project from Wadala to Gateway of India, expected to cost around ₹23,000 crore and significantly improve Mumbai’s public transport network.

Additionally, the budget includes plans for a new film city in Vidarbha, which aims to boost regional employment and strengthen Maharashtra’s creative economy.

A major highlight of the Maharashtra Budget 2026 is the government’s strong push for the animation and gaming industry. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a plan to create around 4 lakh highly skilled jobs, particularly in Mumbai and Pune. The state plans to establish over 250–295 gaming and animation studios, positioning the region as a $50-billion creative economy hub.

Experts believe this initiative could transform Maharashtra into a global leader in animation, gaming and digital entertainment. Moreover, Mumbai’s existing film and media ecosystem may serve as a launchpad for these emerging sectors.

The Maharashtra Budget 2026 also outlines long-term goals for economic growth, tourism expansion and digital governance. The government aims to increase tourist footfall from 16 crore to 38 crore by 2047 while strengthening digital infrastructure.

Overall, the Maharashtra Budget 2026 attempts to balance welfare measures for farmers and women with long-term investments in infrastructure, technology and youth employment.
