Pune: In a swift action, Wanwadi police arrested a habitual offender in a molestation case and filed a chargesheet in court within 24 hours.
The accused has been identified as Rahul Sanjay Mirekar (19, resident of Ramtekdi). Mirekar is a known criminal with previous offenses.
According to police reports, on March 2, at around 10:30 PM, the complainant was walking with her fiancé near Kothari Wheels in the Ramtekdi area on Solapur Road when the accused, Mirekar, began hurling obscene abuses at her. When her fiancé intervened and asked Mirekar to stop, the accused verbally abused him as well and proceeded to physically assault him.
When the woman tried to intervene, the accused grabbed her hair and passed lewd remarks, causing her extreme distress and humiliation.
On Monday, March 17, the victim approached Wanwadi Police Station and filed a complaint. Based on her statement, a case of molestation was registered against Rahul Mirekar.
Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, the investigation was carried out by Assistant Commissioner of Police Dnyankumar Godse, Senior Inspector Satyajit Adamane, Inspector Govind Jadhav, Sub-Inspector Ashish Jadhav, and officers Londhe, Sable, Bobade, Rajput, Salman Sheikh, and Shinde.
A special police team was formed to investigate the case. Following their swift probe, the accused, Mirekar, was arrested on Tuesday, March 18. Remarkably, within 24 hours of his arrest, the chargesheet was filed before the First-Class Judicial Magistrate in Lashkar.
Senior Police Inspector Satyajit Adamane confirmed the rapid action taken in the case, ensuring a strong legal move against the accused.
