Pune: An autorickshaw driver was brutally assaulted on suspicion of an illicit affair. The incident took place on Thursday (19th) around 10:30 p.m. near Rakshak Chowk.
Malhari Navnath Jogdand alias Baba (resident of Rahatani, Pune) and Tejas Chavan (resident of Pawananagar, Rahatani, Pune) have been arrested as the accused in the case. A 20-year-old woman has lodged a complaint at Sangvi Police Station.
According to police reports, the complainant’s husband, Sandeep Ramchandra Sathe (38), and his friend Balu Pawar were returning from the accused’s birthday party when Jogdand and Chavan intercepted their autorickshaw near Rakshak Chowk. The accused pulled Sathe out of the vehicle and, in a fit of rage over suspicion of an illicit relationship, struck him on the head with a concrete block in an attempt to kill him.
A case has been registered at Sangvi Police Station, and Police Sub-Inspector Dhage is conducting further investigation.
