Pune: In recent days, street vendors on Pune’s FC Road have reportedly been subjected to intimidation and extortion by the alleged local don Hina Sheikh and her associates, Shoaib Jamadar and Shoaib Patel. Vendors claim they are being forced to pay money to continue their businesses in the area.
One vendor, struggling to make ends meet, was coerced into paying amounts ranging between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 4,000 multiple times, accumulating to around Rs. 10,000. When he informed Sheikh that he could not pay further, she allegedly threw his merchandise onto the road and physically assaulted his younger brother.
An eyewitness captured the disturbing incident on video, during which Hina Sheikh appeared dismissive, reportedly stating, “Nothing will happen.” The victim had earlier lodged a complaint against Sheikh and her gang at the Deccan Police Station. However, after the assault, when he sought justice and attempted to file a report, he was allegedly ignored and rudely turned away by police officials.
