Pune: Assistant Police Inspector Dyaneshwar Dinkar Madiwale has been suspended after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and causing serious injuries to a female pedestrian in the Kondhwa Dhavde area on June 2.
Reports indicate that Madiwale was operating his private vehicle near the Dhavde petrol pump when he hit the woman, who has since been admitted to the ICU with critical injuries.
Preliminary investigations confirmed that Madiwale was intoxicated and driving recklessly at the time of the accident. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against him under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.
In response to the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav, Zone 4, took immediate action by suspending Madiwale. A departmental inquiry is underway, and the suspension was imposed based on the initial findings.
The suspension order highlighted that Madiwale’s conduct was inappropriate for a police officer and detrimental to the reputation of the police force.
