Pune: In a significant crackdown on vehicle theft, Vishrantwadi Police have arrested three individuals from Jamkhed in Ahilyanagar district and recovered three stolen motorcycles worth ₹1.85 lakh.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Aatik Baba Shaikh (22) from Kawadgaon, Chand Nurmohammad Shaikh (20) from Pimpalkhed—both in Taluka Jamkhed—and Chetan Dnyaneshwar Salve (19) from Ramgadvasti, Kals Malwadi, Pune.
Acting on CCTV footage and confidential leads, a special police team travelled to Jamkhed, where they coordinated with local authorities to apprehend the trio. The suspects were later brought to Vishrantwadi Police Station for further investigation.
During questioning, the accused confessed to their involvement in multiple vehicle thefts. Police confirmed their connection to earlier theft cases registered in Vishrantwadi and Bibwewadi police stations.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, DCP Himat Jadhav, Assistant Commissioner Vitthal Dabade, Senior PI Kanchan Jadhav, and Crime PI Mangesh Hande. The arrest team included PSI Mahesh Bhosale, Vishal Mane, and police personnel Baban Vanave, Yashwant Kirve, Krishna Machare, Amjad Shaikh, Vaman Sawant, Sanjay Badre, Sampat Bhosale, Vishal Gade, Dhaval Lonkar, Sandeep Devkate, Akshay Chapte, Kishor Bhusare, and Pramod Jadhav.
