Mumbai: Adv. Ashish Shelar, the Minister of Information Technology and Cultural Affairs and Mumbai BJP President, has sharply criticized the Ubattha group for allegedly using the recent attack on actor Saif Ali Khan’s residence as a platform for “fake drama” and political maneuvering. His comments came after it was revealed that the attacker was a Bangladeshi national.
Shelar took to social media platform “X,” accusing the Shiv Sena (UBT) faction of exploiting the situation for political gain. He stated, “Bangladeshi infiltrators have reached Bandra West, and it won’t be long before they reach Bandra East. Therefore, stop the political theatrics for self-gain.”
Further criticizing the group, Shelar called them hypocritical for their stance on Hindutva, highlighting the contrast between their rhetoric and the BJP’s commitment to the ideology. “Look at the miracle in Maharashtra… listen to the new rhetoric of fake Hindutva,” Shelar remarked, mocking the group’s position. He also accused the Shiv Sena (UBT) of making empty statements while overlooking the issue of illegal immigration.
Shelar also took aim at the group’s selective criticism, questioning their failure to address the issue of infiltration in West Bengal, where Mamata Banerjee’s government has resisted the deployment of the Border Security Force (BSF). “Why don’t you ask your dear ‘Didi’ about the infiltration, instead of pointing fingers at the BJP?” Shelar challenged.
The comments from Shelar serve as a direct response to the Shiv Sena (UBT) faction’s attempts to target the BJP following the attack on Saif Ali Khan’s residence.
