Pimpri Chinchwad: A bomb threat email received by DY Patil College in Akurdi caused significant concern this morning. The email, which was sent to the college administration around 8:30 AM, led to immediate action. The college informed the police right away, resulting in the deployment of a large police force. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and the dog squad were called in to conduct a thorough search of the entire college campus. However, after five to six hours of investigation, the authorities confirmed that the bomb threat was false.
The swift police response caused a wave of panic among students and faculty. As the large police presence arrived on the campus, an evacuation was ordered, and the search operation began. During the investigation, rumors began to spread, prompting parents to rush to the college in concern for their children’s safety.
With the assistance of the bomb detection squad and the cyber cell, a meticulous search was conducted across the campus. No suspicious objects were found, and after extensive checks, Senior Inspector Nitin Fatangare declared the threat to be a hoax.
This is not the first time schools, hospitals, and colleges have received fake bomb threat emails. In previous incidents, no dangerous items were found, and authorities suspect that such threats are pranks. To pursue further investigation, the cyber cell and a special team from the crime branch have been assigned to track the source of the email.
The police have reassured parents and students not to panic, and investigations are ongoing to identify the person behind the hoax. Authorities emphasized that anyone found responsible for sending false threats will face strict legal action.
