Pune: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader and son of Raj Thackeray, Amit Thackeray, made a strong and controversial statement while addressing students at an event in Kondhwa, Pune. He said, “Those who dare to lay hands on girls should have their limbs broken and then be handed over to the police.”
The event was organized by the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena to felicitate students and distribute school bags. Speaking at the event, Amit Thackeray expressed deep concern for the safety of school and college-going girls.
“I sincerely thank the Vidyarthi Sena. You are fulfilling my dream of reaching out to students. I feel too young to advise students, but I strongly believe that every child — boy or girl — going to school should feel safe. I have come here to speak not just to students, but to parents as well,” he said.
Emphasizing the need for safety, especially as his own son is soon to start school, Amit Thackeray added, “As a parent, I know the fear — what if something happens to our child? What if a call comes late at night? These fears are real. Offenders are growing bolder. Such people need to be taught a lesson.”
“We live in the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This is not a place where anyone can dare touch our girls. Those who do must have their hands and legs broken before they are handed over to the police,” he asserted.
Amit further remarked, “Even if our party is not in power, Raj Saheb’s (Raj Thackeray’s) spirit is in power. We will not tolerate harm to our children.”
His remarks have sparked debate and drawn strong reactions across political and social circles.
