Pune: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a female government employee for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 at the Indapur tehsil office. She was caught red-handed while taking money to facilitate the signature and stamp of the tehsildar on an official document.

A case has been registered against the accused, identified as Kaveri Vijay Khade (48), at the Indapur police station under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to ACB officials, a farmer had approached them with a complaint regarding the illegal demand for a bribe. The complainant’s father owns 39 gunthas of land in Mauje Bhandgaon, Indapur, and had applied to the tehsil office for permission to construct a road on the land.

During the process, Khade, who worked as a revenue assistant, allegedly demanded ₹25,000 to obtain the necessary approval from the tehsildar. The complainant, unwilling to pay the bribe, reported the matter to the ACB.

After verifying the complaint, the ACB set up a trap. When Khade called the complainant to the tehsil office on Friday to accept the money, officers intervened and caught her red-handed while accepting the bribe.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (SP) Shirish Sardeshpande and Additional Superintendent Dr. Sheetal Janve. Police Inspector Prem Waghmore is leading the investigation.

SP Sardeshpande has urged citizens to report any demands for bribes by government officials. Complaints can be registered with the Anti-Corruption Bureau on 020-2612134, 26132802, 26050423.
