Pune: In a major breakthrough, Crime Branch Unit 2 arrested a suspect allegedly planning to avenge the murder of criminal Sharad Mohol. The accused, identified as Omkar Sachin More (age 23), a resident of Sutardara, Kothrud, was caught in Mutha Colony, Pune, during a targeted operation based on a confidential tip-off.
The operation took place on May 19, 2025, while Unit 2 officers were conducting routine patrols. Police Constables Ujwal Mokashi and Shankar Kumbhar received intelligence that led them to lay a trap for the accused. A locally made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from More at the time of arrest.
n initial case connected to the ongoing investigation had already been lodged at Kharadi Police Station, while a separate FIR (No. 135/2025) was subsequently registered at Kothrud Police Station under Section 3(25) of the Arms Act.
The successful operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingle and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime-1) Ganesh Ingle. The team included Police Inspector Pratap Mankar, Sub-Inspector Ashish Kawthekar, PSI Nitin Kamble, and other dedicated personnel such as Ujwal Mokashi, Shankar Kumbhar, Sanjay Jadhav, Shankar Nevase, Vijay Kumar Pawar, Nagnath Rakh, Omkar Kumbhar, Hanumant Kabale, Amol Sarde, Vinod Chavan, Ganesh Thorat, Nikhil Jadhav, Sadhana Tamhane, Pushpendra Chavan, and Nagesh Rakh.
Authorities continue to investigate the broader network behind the revenge plot, emphasizing their commitment to curbing retaliatory violence and ensuring public safety.
