Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL)’s Pune Division has reported an impressive revenue increase of ₹5,137.55 crore over the past two years, attributed to improved billing accuracy, reduction in power losses, and a record-breaking 4.34 lakh new electricity connections.

In the division’s annual review meeting held at the ‘Prakashdoot’ auditorium in Rasta Peth, Chief Engineer Rajendra Pawar presented a comparative overview of key performance indicators across the last three financial years. Senior officials including Superintending Engineers Yuvraj Jarg, Sinhajirao Gaikwad, and others were in attendance.

Pawar stated that the division has achieved 100% billing accuracy targets through bi-monthly review meetings involving meter reading agencies and accounts officers. This initiative led to a 0.73% improvement in accurate billing and a 0.93% reduction in average billing discrepancies.

Over the last two years, 4,34,836 new connections were provided, taking the total consumer base to 39.17 lakh—the highest in the state. Revenue recovery has also seen a boost, with arrears from household, commercial, and industrial consumers dropping from ₹124 crore to ₹69 crore. Additionally, power thefts worth ₹62.4 crore have been uncovered.

Technical and commercial losses have declined notably: distribution loss by 0.36%, low-tension loss by 0.96%, and T&C loss by 0.32%. The division’s current T&C loss stands at 7.69%.

Pune has also led the state in rooftop solar adoption. Installed capacity has nearly doubled from 249 MW in 2023 to 474 MW across 28,604 consumers—accounting for 15% of the state’s total rooftop solar capacity.

Pawar emphasised the division’s focus on “quality service, revenue growth, and zero arrears,” and urged continued commitment to daily performance improvement.
