Mumbai: The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has taken Varad Tukaram Kankai into custody for allegedly uploading a controversial video of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on social media. Another suspect, Padmakar Ambolkar, has also been identified and summoned for questioning. Both suspects are residents of the Worli area in Mumbai. The Cyber Cell is investigating their political connections and probing the involvement of other possible suspects. An FIR has already been registered in the matter.
Last week, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell filed cases against 12 social media users for sharing a doctored and incomplete video of the Chief Minister. According to Cyber Cell officials, the video was created with the intent to incite social unrest. They warned that such content could hurt the sentiments of specific communities and disrupt law and order in the state.
