Pune : Veteran social activist Anna Hazare has voiced strong criticism against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleging ethical misconduct and a departure from foundational principles.
In a recent statement, Hazare emphasized the importance of integrity in political candidates, stating, “I have been saying it for a long time that while contesting the election, the candidate must have a character, good ideas, and have no dent on image.” He expressed disappointment with AAP, asserting, “They got tangled in liquor and money – his (Arvind Kejriwal’s) image was dented because of it, and that’s why they are getting fewer votes in the election.”
Hazare further criticized Kejriwal, remarking, “People saw that he talks about character but gets involved in liquor.” He underscored the necessity for politicians to address allegations transparently: “In politics, allegations are made. One has to prove that he is not guilty. The truth will remain the truth.”
Reflecting on his association with AAP, Hazare noted, “When a meeting was held, I decided that I would not be part of the party – and I have remained away from that day.”
