Pune: The Yerwada Police have registered a case against over 40 individuals for allegedly creating panic and disturbing public order in the Yerwada area. The incident took place on January 7, 2025, around 10:00 PM at Gunjan Chowk, following the release of an accused on bail.
According to the complaint filed by Police Constable Lahu Eknath Gadmavad, the primary accused, Prafull alias Gudduya Kasabe, was recently released on bail from a case registered at Yerwada Police Station. To celebrate his release, 11 of his associates and 35 to 40 others allegedly gathered in the area, drove recklessly, shouted slogans, and created an atmosphere of fear, violating public safety norms.
A case has been registered under Sections 189(2), 190, 223, and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, along with Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act and Sections 37(1)(3) & 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act 1951. The accused include Kasabe and 11 identified individuals, while 35 to 40 others remain unidentified.
As of now, no arrests have been made, but police officials have stated that arrangements are in place to apprehend the accused. The investigation is being led by API Solunke of Yerwada Police Station, and further developments in the case are awaited.
