Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Jitendra Awhad criticized Ajit Pawar faction MLA and former Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly, Narhari Zirwal, for his remarks on Sharad Pawar. Zirwal had apologized to Sharad Pawar, calling him a “deity.” Awhad fired back, asking, “Did you feel no shame leaving your idol? Sharad Pawar gave you everything. Now you call him a deity. Stop this drama.”
Awhad further questioned Zirwal’s actions, saying, “Who made you the Deputy Speaker? Why are you creating controversies for publicity? You’re afraid to hang his photo at home but call him your deity. Have you ever considered the pain you caused Sharad Pawar? Unlike you, we don’t need power at every turn.”
Speaking about allegations that suspect Valmik Karad is being pampered in Beed Police Station, Awhad commented, “He has paralyzed the entire government. If such favoritism is shown openly, it’s shameful. While ordinary people must beg for basic facilities, Karad gets them instantly. Will you offer such privileges to the common man?”
Regarding Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar’s suspicion of Karad’s potential encounter to protect powerful figures like Dhananjay Munde, Awhad said, “Wadettiwar’s claims have merit. In chess, pawns are sacrificed to save the king. Once their purpose is served, they are discarded.”
When asked about demands for Dhananjay Munde’s resignation, Awhad reiterated his long-standing stance: “I’ve been demanding his resignation since day one. Why use vague terms like ‘big shots’? Name them—be it the boss, DM, or even Dawood Ibrahim.”
On the seizure of property from suspects in the Santosh Deshmukh murder case, Awhad questioned the government’s intentions: “Whose assets will you seize? Who will face MCOCA charges? The judiciary is under pressure, and the public is confused. This chaos is deliberate.”
Referring to the coal mafia activities in Parli, Awhad compared the situation to the movie Gangs of Wasseypur. He added, “If AI is used to deliver justice to Santosh Deshmukh and Somnath Suryavanshi, we welcome it. But let’s hope modern intelligence doesn’t overshadow original intelligence. After all, this government seems skilled in financial manipulations.”
