Pune : Starting July 7, a mandatory dress code will be enforced at the famous Ekveera Devi temple located at Karla near Lonavala. The temple, considered sacred by the Koli community, will deny entry to devotees wearing revealing or inappropriate clothing. The temple trust has issued an official statement outlining the new rules.
The decision aims to preserve the sanctity of the temple. The trust has clarified that anyone — women, men, or youth wearing short, revealing, or body-exposing clothes will not be allowed inside the temple premises. The rule will also apply to local shopkeepers and residents in the vicinity of the temple.
As per the notification Women and girls must wear traditional Indian attire such as sarees, salwar-kameez, or any other full-coverage ethnic clothing. Outfits must completely cover the body. Men and boys are required to wear dhoti-kurta, pajama-kurta, pants-shirts, T-shirts, or other modest traditional clothing that covers the body entirely.
