Pune: In yet another incident of daylight deception, an elderly woman was tricked and robbed of gold jewellery worth ₹55,000 in the Katraj area on Monday, June 23. A case has been registered at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station.
According to police, 75-year-old Shila Devle, a resident of Shivshambho Nagar in Katraj, was walking along the Katraj-Kondhwa Road at around 5 PM when a man on a two-wheeler stopped her. Striking up a conversation, the unidentified thief warned her about the rising incidents of women being targeted for their jewellery and advised her to safely put her ornaments into a bag. Distracted by his friendly manner, Shila followed his instructions. However, seizing the opportunity, the thief made off with her gold chain valued at ₹55,000.
A complaint has been lodged at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, and Police Sub-Inspector Nilesh Mokashi is investigating the case.
