In a disturbing incident at the Kondhwa police station, a woman police officer was allegedly assaulted and manhandled by a woman and her family members, resulting in the damage of a printer during the altercation. Police have registered a case against four individuals, including a minor, for obstructing government work and assaulting a government officer.
The incident unfolded when Police Constable Shilpa Pawar filed a complaint against Falguni Kumaran Pillay (18), her father Kumaran Jayaram Pillay (48), her mother Sheetal Kumaran Pillay (46), and a 14-year-old minor, all residents of Wanawadi Bazaar. The family was summoned to the police station after Falguni was ordered to appear in connection with a case registered at the station.
According to reports, when the family arrived at the station on Tuesday evening, they caused a disturbance and engaged in a heated argument with Police Sub-Inspector Balaji Digole. Police Constable Akshaya Bhujbal tried to intervene and calm Falguni down, but she allegedly bit Bhujbal’s hand and scratched him. Sheetal, Falguni’s mother, reportedly kicked Bhujbal in the stomach. When Constable Pawar attempted to stop the altercation, she too was allegedly pushed by the family members.
During the altercation, the family accused the police of filing a false case against them and even threatened to file a complaint with the police commissioner, claiming they would have Constable Pawar dismissed. Amid the chaos, a printer in the station was damaged after being knocked to the ground.
Police Sub-Inspector Mohsin Pathan is leading the investigation into the matter, and a case has been registered against the four individuals involved.
