Pune: In a firm step to curb criminal activities, Pune Police have expelled four repeat offenders from the city for a duration of two years. The externment orders were issued by the Police Commissioner on June 1, focusing on individuals from Kondhwa, Mundhwa, and Hadapsar areas.

One of the externed individuals is 38-year-old Narayan Swami from Kondhwa, who has seven cases lodged against him, including charges of unlawful assembly, physical assault, and involvement in the illegal liquor trade. Another Kondhwa resident, Nehal Viraj Kumbhar (28), has been implicated in four cases concerning the distribution of country-made alcohol.

Also on the list is Shubham Kawade (30) from Fursungi, who faces four serious charges, including attempted murder, grievous assault, and illegal possession of firearms. The fourth offender, Ganesh Meghnath Bhat alias Tamaychi (32) from Jadhav Vasti in Ghorpadi, has a history of offences related to illicit liquor and issuing threats.

This action is part of an intensified campaign under Pune’s Zone V to dismantle persistent criminal networks. In the last five months alone, 71 habitual offenders have been targeted. Of these, 37 have been incarcerated under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), while 13 have faced action under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act (MPDA) and externment provisions.
