Pimpri Chinchwad: A farmer in the Dehu Road area was arrested for cultivating 218 opium plants, which were discovered and seized by the Pimpri-Chinchwad police’s anti-narcotics team. The illegal opium plantation was found in the fields of Kalokhe Mala and Hagwane Mala, leading to the arrest of Dilip Chandrakant Kalokhe, a resident of Kalokhe Vasti.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Doiphode stated that officers Kishor Pardeshi and Javed Bagasiraz received a tip-off about illegal opium cultivation in the Dehugaon region. Following the information, the police raided Kalokhe’s farm. The opium plants were hidden among the onion crops and were found to have flowers and pods. In total, 218 opium plants, valued at ₹3.27 lakh, were seized during the operation.
The operation was led by Senior Police Inspector Santosh Patil, Assistant Inspector Sachin Kadam, and supported by officers Kishor Pardeshi, Javed Bagasiraz, Mayur Wadkar, Shilpa Kamble, and Rajendra Bamble.
