Pune: The notorious Gajanan Marne gang caused chaos in Kothrud and brutally assaulted a social media employee working at Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol’s office. The victim sustained severe injuries to his nose in the attack.
The incident reportedly took place following an altercation when a convoy of vehicles, accompanied by loud honking, was passing through the area. Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol made a video call to inquire about the victim’s condition. The accused were recently released on bail. So far, three people have been arrested, while Marne’s nephew remains absconding.
The attack took place on Wednesday evening in Kothrud, where 33-year-old software engineer Devendra Purushottam Jog, a resident of Kothrud, was brutally beaten. The incident occurred when Jog attempted to navigate his two-wheeler through a Shri Shivjayanti procession. Following this, a case was registered against three individuals, all linked to the Marne gang.
A complaint was filed at the Kothrud Police Station, and Jog, who sustained serious injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. According to the police, a Shri Shivjayanti procession was being carried out in the Bhelkenagar area of Kothrud around 4:30 PM on Wednesday.
Jog, who had the day off, went shopping in the afternoon and was returning home on his two-wheeler when he encountered the procession. As he attempted to maneuver his vehicle through the crowd, three men stopped him, questioned his driving skills, and assaulted him brutally. He was punched in the nose, resulting in a severe injury.
Following the attack, Jog informed his father and later approached the Kothrud Police Station, where he lodged a complaint.
