Pune: In a crackdown on illegal hill excavation causing environmental degradation, the district administration has taken swift action against unauthorized activity in Survey No. 579/1B, Mouje Bibwewadi, Pune. District Collector Jitendra Dudi warned that strict measures will be taken against anyone involved in illegal excavation or harming the environment in the future.
The administration received information about unauthorized hill cutting and land leveling activity underway at the location. A site inspection was conducted using drone surveillance, and a detailed panchnama was carried out. The investigation confirmed that illegal excavation and hill cutting were taking place to level the land, which was immediately halted by the authorities. A poclain machine used at the site was seized.
The land belongs to Rakesh Sharma, and both he and the developer had undertaken the excavation and leveling work without obtaining any permission from the government, as revealed during the action. A complaint has been filed with the police for registering an offense against those involved.
This operation was jointly conducted by Haveli Sub-Divisional Officer Yashwant Mane, Pune City Tehsildar Suryakant Yewale, Haveli Tehsildar Kiran Survase, Mandal Officer, and village revenue officials, as informed by Collector Dudi.
