Pune: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a fresh set of warnings for several states across the country as intense weather conditions continue to impact various regions. From flood-like situations in Imphal, Manipur, to relentless downpours affecting Maharashtra and West Bengal, the IMD has cautioned citizens about incoming thunderstorms, heavy rains, and gusty winds likely to disrupt daily life over the coming days.

States on High Alert

As per the IMD’s latest bulletin for June 5, the following states are expected to experience significant weather activity, including heavy rainfall and thunderstorms:
Rajasthan

Madhya Pradesh

West Bengal

Jharkhand

Maharashtra

Himachal Pradesh

Odisha

Andhra Pradesh

Northeastern states

In southern Bengal, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected to continue until Friday morning. Meanwhile, heavier rainfall is likely in the sub-Himalayan districts.

Yellow Alerts: Dates and Regions

June 6: Assam, Meghalaya, and Manipur – heavy rainfall warning in place

June 7: Eastern Rajasthan – alert issued for intense showers

June 8: Himachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya – forecast of thunderstorms and heavy rains under yellow alert

Delhi Weather Update

Delhi residents can expect thunderstorms, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h. The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 34°C. A yellow alert has been issued, and citizens are advised to brace for potential disruptions due to adverse weather.

Northeast and Central India Outlook
Meghalaya is predicted to witness very heavy rainfall, with the rest of the northeast likely to see widespread showers before a possible decline in intensity. Northwestern states may experience isolated rain, lightning, and strong winds.

In central India, temperatures are expected to remain stable for the next 24 hours. However, a gradual increase of 2–4°C in daytime temperatures is forecasted over the following three days. On the other hand, eastern parts of the country may see a dip of up to 2°C over the next 48 hours.

Advisory to Citizens

The IMD has urged people in the affected regions to stay vigilant and avoid non-essential travel during periods of intense weather. With monsoon patterns rapidly shifting, authorities stress the importance of preparedness to reduce the risk of disruptions and ensure public safety.
