Pune: A disturbing case of alleged molestation has emerged involving a woman cab driver and an administrative officer of a prominent multinational IT company based in Kharadi. The incident reportedly occurred on April 2 between 8:30 am and 10 am but was officially reported to the police days later, with an FIR filed on Friday.
According to the complaint filed by a 47-year-old female cab driver at the Kharadi police station, the accused—identified as Nagraj Kode, who works as an administrative officer at the IT firm—behaved inappropriately during a work-related interaction. The company in question, referred to as Northern Company, operates out of Panchshil Towers in Kharadi and hires private cab services for employee transport.
Police officials confirmed that the woman, a professional driver for a private cab company, had been assigned to drive for the IT firm. During the alleged incident, Kode sat in the front passenger seat of her vehicle and made unsolicited advances. He is also said to have invited her to his residence and inappropriately touched her while engaging in conversation.
Initially shocked and unsure of how to respond, the woman later gathered the courage to approach the police and file a formal complaint. Following the registration of the case, Kharadi police booked the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, which addresses offences involving the use of criminal force with the intent to violate a woman’s modesty.
Authorities confirmed that the accused is currently absconding. Law enforcement teams are actively searching for him, and efforts are underway to ensure his swift arrest.
Police Sub-Inspector Vaishali Tangande stated that investigations are ongoing, and the matter is being treated with due seriousness. Meanwhile, the victim is receiving support as the legal process unfolds.
