Pune: In the midst of Khadki’s bustling streets and constant traffic, one autorickshaw is turning heads—not with its fare meter or speed, but with the lush greenery it carries within. Parked outside MM Restaurant today, the sight of a mobile garden inside an autorickshaw drew the attention of curious onlookers. The unique vehicle belongs to Shriram Anwakar, an autorickshaw driver who has been nurturing this green haven for the past six years.
Unlike a regular ride, stepping into Shriram’s autorickshaw feels like entering a miniature forest. The interiors are beautifully decorated with money plants, tulsi, snake plants, and other air-purifying greens. Every plant is handpicked and tenderly cared for—not just for visual appeal, but with a deeper purpose.
“Passengers should feel fresh and positive,” says Shriram. “If someone is struggling with negative thoughts, maybe these plants can help uplift their mood.”
His initiative has become more than just a decorative idea—it’s a symbol of peace, environmental awareness, and mental wellness. In an age where stress and pollution are rising concerns, Shriram’s green autorickshaw offers a refreshing ride both literally and emotionally.
Residents and commuters have fondly begun calling him the “Green Auto-Wallah with a Heart of Gold.” For many, he is a daily reminder that impactful change can grow from the smallest of ideas—even within the compact frame of an auto.
With every trip, Shriram Anwakar offers more than transportation—he delivers inspiration, calm, and a breath of fresh air to all who ride with him.
