Pune: A protest was held today in Pune by members of the Maratha community, targeting political leaders Walmik Karad and Dhananjay Munde. As part of the demonstration, protestors hit the statues of both leaders with slippers to express their anger and frustration.
In a symbolic act, the protestors also poured milk over the statues of politicians who have supported justice in the Massa Jog case. Statues of MLA Suresh Dhas, MLA Sandip Kshir Sagar, activist Anjali Damania, and Manoj Jarge Patil were part of this ritual as the community made its stance clear.
Yogesh Kedar, a key figure in the protest, shared the community’s concerns, stating:
“Walmik Karad is a criminal. By supporting him, society has demanded the resignation of Dhananjay Munde. We want to clarify that our opposition is not based on his affiliation with the Vanjari community. We also condemn Ajit Pawar for backing the accused until yesterday. Whether the accused is Maratha or not, we oppose their support. This is not a Vanjari versus Maratha issue; it is a fight against corruption.”
The protest highlights the growing frustration within the Maratha community as they continue to seek justice in the MassaJog case.
