Pune: In a commendable overnight operation, Mahavitaran engineers successfully replaced a damaged 630 KVA distribution transformer within just four hours, restoring electricity to the Manjari area by early Thursday morning. This quick action helped prevent further discomfort for residents already grappling with intense heat and a sudden power outage.
The transformer, which serviced areas like Z Corner near Chintamani Colony, Shivkrishna Lawns, and the main stretch from Manjari to Mundhwa under the Bund Garden division, malfunctioned around 10 p.m. on Wednesday. As a result, power supply to around 1,400 residential and commercial connections was disrupted.
Upon inspection, Mahavitaran’s technical team confirmed that the transformer was beyond repair and required immediate replacement. With no backup power and rising night temperatures, residents were left in distress.
Responding swiftly to the situation, Chief Engineer (in-charge) Ravindra Bundele directed the replacement work to begin without delay. Trucks and cranes were quickly arranged to transport the new transformer, which was provided by Chief Engineer Rajendra Pawar. The removal of the faulty unit and installation of the new one commenced around midnight and was completed by 4 a.m., with power restored to consumers by 4:30 a.m.
The replacement was carried out under the supervision of Additional Executive Engineer Ramchandra Londhe, with active support from Assistant Engineer Abhijit Sangale and team members Kiran Kumbhar, Lalu Jagwar, Pankaj Tekam, Shubham Borwali, Raju Jadhav, Vishal Mane, and Swaraj Tayde. Additional Executive Engineer Vaibhav Khatavkar, Sub-Executive Engineer Phulchand Fad, Ganesh Shelke, and Omkar Kulkarni also played key roles in the operation.
The residents of the area appreciated Mahavitaran’s efficient response and extended their cooperation throughout the process.
