Mumbai: The political atmosphere in Maharashtra heated up following the murder of Beed district sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, leading to Minister Dhananjay Munde’s resignation. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has now made a shocking revelation about how the resignation unfolded.
Speaking in an interview with ABP Majha’s Maza Vision program, Pawar stated, “The brutal manner in which Santosh Deshmukh was killed, and the viral images of the crime, were deeply painful for us. After seeing those images, we all sat together, and then Dhananjay Munde resigned.”
He further clarified that the government has formed both an SIT (Special Investigation Team) and CID (Criminal Investigation Department) to investigate the case. “Dhananjay Munde’s name has not surfaced in any of these inquiries. We will not shield anyone, nor will we tolerate any wrongdoing,” Pawar asserted.
Emphasizing his strict stance on law enforcement, Pawar said, “Whether it is Beed or Pune, action will be taken against those who break the law. Everyone must abide by the law.”
On Chhagan Bhujbal’s reported dissatisfaction, Pawar explained, “Bhujbal has worked in several key positions, including the Legislative Assembly and Council. I believed he should go to the Rajya Sabha. Neither I nor the party intended to upset him.”
When asked whether he is closer to Devendra Fadnavis or Eknath Shinde, Pawar diplomatically responded, “Devendra Fadnavis is the Deputy Chief Minister, so naturally, he is closer in that regard. However, I maintain good relations with both Shinde and Fadnavis.”
Pawar also named late Vilasrao Deshmukh as the best Chief Minister Maharashtra has seen, praising his leadership and governance skills.
