Pune: The Nagpur-Pune and Nagpur-Mumbai rail routes are set to witness a major upgrade with the potential introduction of brand-new Vande Bharat Sleeper trains. In a bid to improve rail connectivity and passenger experience, the Nagpur Railway Division has formally submitted a proposal to the Indian Railway Board for the launch of these state-of-the-art trains.
In a recent press conference, Vinayak Garg, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Central Railway’s Nagpur Division, shared that discussions are in progress to introduce the new services. He emphasized the importance of Nagpur within the railway network, stating, “The Nagpur division plays a key role in the growth of passenger rail services, with over 125 trains operating from Nagpur station daily. We are also excited about the anticipated launch of Vande Bharat Sleeper trains from Nagpur in the near future.”
Rising Passenger Demand on Nagpur-Pune and Nagpur-Mumbai Routes
The Nagpur-Pune and Nagpur-Mumbai routes are seeing a significant surge in passenger traffic, as an increasing number of commuters rely on trains for daily travel. However, the current frequency of trains is inadequate to meet the rising demand, leaving many passengers without seats and prompting them to seek road travel, which is often less convenient and time-consuming. The proposed Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are expected to address this issue by providing additional capacity and improving the overall passenger experience.
Vande Bharat Trains: A Game Changer for Commuters
Vande Bharat trains are renowned for their advanced facilities, safety features, and faster travel times, making them a popular choice for passengers. With the Nagpur-Pune route experiencing a steady increase in commuter numbers, the Nagpur Railway Division has requested Vande Bharat Sleeper trains to better serve this growing demand. These new trains will offer enhanced comfort, reduce travel time, and elevate the overall travel experience for passengers.
Proposed Routes and Future Plans
Nagpur is not the only city requesting Vande Bharat Sleeper trains. Several other divisions across India have also placed similar requests. The Nagpur division specifically seeks Vande Bharat trains for the Nagpur-Pune and Nagpur-Mumbai routes. The proposal has already been submitted to the Indian Railway Board, and everyone is hopeful that it will be approved soon.
Sources confirm that the production of Vande Bharat trains is progressing at a rapid pace. Once the new trains are ready, the Railway Board will make decisions regarding their allocation to various routes, including those in Maharashtra.
With the introduction of these high-speed, state-of-the-art sleeper trains, rail travel in Maharashtra is poised to undergo a significant transformation, offering passengers a faster, safer, and more comfortable experience.
