Pune: The Crime Branch’s Unit 6 successfully apprehended a notorious criminal in Wagholi for violating an externment order. The accused, identified as Shyamkant Vishnu Satav (40), a resident of Avhalwadi, Taluka Haveli, Pune district, was arrested following a strategic police operation.
According to police reports, officer Rishikesh Vyavhare received intelligence during routine patrolling that Satav, who had been externed from Pune city, Pune district, and Pimpri-Chinchwad commissionerate limits, had returned to his residence. Satav had been ordered to stay away for one and a half years from August 12, 2024, under the Mumbai Police Act. However, despite the legal directive, he defied the order and re-entered the area.
Upon verifying the information, the Unit 6 team swiftly acted and took Satav into custody. A case has been registered against him at Wagholi Police Station under Section 142 of the Maharashtra Police Act. He has since been handed over to the police station for further legal proceedings.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingle, Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajendra Mulik, and Police Inspector Wahid Pathan. The Crime Branch Unit 6 team, comprising Rishikesh Vyavhare, Nitin Dhadge, Suhas Tambe, Ganesh Dongre, Kirti Narwade, and Pratiksha Pansare, played a crucial role in the arrest.
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to cracking down on habitual offenders and ensuring law and order in the city.
