Pune: The Mumbai-bound Panvel exit (1.200 km) on the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai-Pune Expressway will remain closed for six months starting February 11 due to construction at Kalamboli Circle. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is building a new flyover and underpass as part of the Kalamboli Junction improvement project.
Navi Mumbai Traffic officials confirmed that the closure will affect all vehicles, including light and heavy transport heading toward Panvel, Mumbra, and JNPT. The restriction, in place 24 hours a day, aims to facilitate construction while minimizing congestion.
Alternative routes have been suggested to manage traffic flow. Vehicles bound for Panvel, Goa, and JNPT from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will be diverted at Konphata (9.600 km) to NH-48 via Palaspe Circle. For those traveling from Pune to Mumbai and heading toward Taloja, Kalyan, or Shilphata, the route continues straight from 1.200 km onto the Panvel-Sion Highway, with a right turn under the Purusharth Petrol Pump flyover via Roadpali and NH-48.
