Pimpri-Chinchwad: With the monsoon season approaching, the threat of vector-borne diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya has increased. To tackle this issue, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has launched the “Break the Chain” campaign.

The campaign aims to eradicate mosquito-breeding sites through preventive measures, public awareness, cleanliness, and active public participation. In accordance with the state government’s dengue prevention guidelines, the “Check, Clean, and Cover” triad is being implemented across the city. Citizens are urged to routinely check their surroundings for stagnant water, clean water tanks and water-storage containers every week, and keep all water-storage vessels covered at all times.

By following these simple yet effective measures collectively, the spread of dengue can be curbed. To make the campaign more successful, the Municipal Corporation has appealed to every resident to take part in these efforts.

As part of the initiative, citizens are also encouraged to follow five key health guidelines: identify and destroy mosquito-breeding sites, protect themselves against mosquito bites, support fogging and insecticide spraying drives, visit a doctor promptly if they experience any symptoms like fever, and stay properly hydrated.

The “Break the Chain” campaign will run from Monday to Saturday each week and target locations such as hospitals, schools, banks, malls, cinemas, offices, parks, and other public spaces. During this period, mosquito-breeding sites will be identified and eliminated systematically across the city.
In addition, the Municipal Corporation has deployed eight specialized teams comprising a Nodal Medical Officer, Assistant Health Officer, and Insecticide Inspector to oversee the campaign’s implementation. Various awareness drives, including lectures, rallies, poster competitions, street plays, social media videos, and messages on LED screens, will be conducted in collaboration with local social organizations. Seminars, panel discussions, and public education programs will also be held to enhance the campaign’s effectiveness.

By ensuring broad public participation and sustained efforts across all sectors, the Municipal Corporation aims to control vector- and water-borne diseases and promote a healthier environment throughout Pimpri-Chinchwad.
