Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of three individuals, including a prominent builder couple from Pune, while they were on their way to attend the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The accident occurred on Sunday when the SUV they were traveling in collided with a roadside culvert near Kaladehi in Jabalpur.

The deceased have been identified as Vinod Patel, a well-known Pune-based builder and chairman of Tulsi and NexS Group, his wife Shilpa Patel, and another relative, Neeru Patel. The fourth passenger, Naresh Patel, sustained critical injuries and has been referred to a private hospital for treatment after initial care at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College Hospital in Jabalpur.

According to Bargi Police Station in-charge Kamlesh Chauriya, the driver of the SUV lost control, causing the vehicle to crash into a culvert. “On receiving information, we immediately rushed to the spot and sent the victims to the hospital. Unfortunately, three of them were declared dead on arrival,” Chauriya said.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and the victims’ families have been informed to arrange the last rites. The incident has sent shockwaves through Pune, where Vinod Patel was a respected figure in the real estate industry.

The tragic accident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and caution during long journeys.
