Pune Crime Branch Launches “Mission Zero Tolerance of Drugs,” Seizing ₹25 Lakh Worth of Narcotics

Pune: The Pune Crime Branch has intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking with the launch of “Mission Zero Tolerance of Drugs.” In a series of three operations conducted by the Anti-Drug Squads 1 and 2, drugs worth ₹25,51,000, including methamphetamine and cannabis, were seized, leading to the arrest of three individuals.

The arrested suspects include Kumail Mohammad Tamboli (28, resident of Sukhakarta Apartment, Gokulnagar, Dhanori), Saifan alias Shafiq Ismail Sheikh (52, resident of Anandnagar, Market Yard), and Kiran Bhausaheb Tujare (24, resident of Shri Building, Avhalwadi, Wagholi). Tamboli was found in possession of 83 grams of methamphetamine valued at ₹19,17,300, along with other materials. He was apprehended near Sant Nagar on the Lohgaon-Wagholi road after police received a tip-off during a routine patrol. An FIR under the NDPS Act (sections 8 (c) and 21 (c)) has been registered at the Airport Police Station.

In a separate operation, Police Constable Azim Sheikh intercepted Saifan Sheikh near Anand Nagar on Bibvewadi Road, recovering 350 grams of cannabis worth ₹7,000. A case under sections 8 (c) and 20 (b)(ii)(a) of the NDPS Act has been filed at the Market Yard Police Station.
Additionally, during another patrol, Constable Sandeep Shirke received information about Kiran Tujare, who was subsequently arrested near Shree Krishna Hotel Chowk. From Tujare, 30.35 grams of methamphetamine worth ₹6,27,000 was seized. An FIR under sections 8 (c) and 22 (b) of the NDPS Act has been registered at the Airport Police Station.

These operations were conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Deputy Police Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingale, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 1) Ganesh Ingale, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 2) Rajendra Mulik. The Anti-Drug Squads 1 and 2, led by Police Inspectors Ulhas Kadam and Sudarshan Gaikwad, spearheaded these successful efforts in the ongoing war against narcotics in the city.
