Pune: A Pune Police constable, Tushar Anil Sutar, has been suspended following allegations that he cheated and assaulted a woman he had been in a relationship with. The woman, a resident of Rasta Peth, had been involved with Sutar since 2019 after they connected on Facebook. Despite promising to marry her, Sutar, who was posted at the Khadak police station, repeatedly delayed the marriage.
Matters escalated after the woman’s husband passed away in September 2021. Sutar allegedly took ₹5 lakh and 22 grams of gold ornaments from her. When she confronted him and demanded that he fulfill his promise of marriage, Sutar is reported to have assaulted her. Distressed by the incident, the woman filed a complaint at the Samarth police station.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill condemned Sutar’s actions, stating that his misconduct has tarnished the image of the police department. As a result, Sutar has been suspended pending further investigation.
