Pune: City Police’s Market Yard division recently busted an illegal gas refilling operation in Ambedkar Nagar, Galli No. 4. Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officials raided the premises and seized equipment used for the unlawful transfer of gas from larger domestic cylinders into smaller ones.
The accused, identified as Bandi Navaz alias Salim Gulab Sherikar (35), was caught in the act of refilling gas cylinders in an unsafe and unauthorized manner. The premises, reportedly linked to Dawal Enterprises, contained all necessary apparatus for gas refilling, which was confiscated by the authorities.
The operation was led by Senior Police Inspector Manisha Patil and her team from Market Yard Police Station. Following the arrest, a case was registered against Sherikar under Sections 287 and 288 of the Bombay Police Act, along with Sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. Further investigation is currently underway.
