Pune: To facilitate smoother traffic flow and ensure convenience for devotees and citizens alike, the Pune Police has introduced a dedicated website that offers real-time updates on the Palkhi processions of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj. The platform provides live location tracking, traffic diversions, and road closure details throughout the city.
The revamped interface prioritizes user experience by showcasing the current location of both palkhis at the top of the page for quick access. It also includes updated routes, real-time diversions, road closures, nearby parking spots, estimated arrival times at upcoming locations, and live images captured through the police department’s internal monitoring system.
A message on the portal reads, “We’ve optimized the platform to ensure warkaris experience an uninterrupted journey while helping Punekars stay informed and plan their commutes accordingly.”
Despite persistent rainfall, thousands of devoted warkaris began their spiritual journey from Alandi and Dehu, carrying the sacred palkhis of Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram. The air echoed with the devotional chants of “Jai Hari Vitthal” and “Dnyanoba Mauli Tukaram” as the processions advanced.
The palkhis are scheduled to reach Pune on June 21, where they will halt before proceeding along their respective traditional routes to Pandharpur. The pilgrimage spans approximately 250 kilometers over 20 days, culminating on Ashadhi Ekadashi, which falls on July 6 this year.
This initiative by the Pune Police marks a significant step toward blending tradition with technology, ensuring the safety and coordination of one of Maharashtra’s most cherished spiritual events.
