Pune: In a continued effort to maintain safety and hygiene across railway premises, the Pune Division of Central Railway has intensified its campaign against unauthorized hawkers and vendors. Under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Kumar Verma, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Priyanka Sharma, and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Anil Kumar Pathak, a joint enforcement operation has been carried out by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Commercial Department.

These operations, held throughout May 2025 and into the first 10 days of June, were conducted under Section 144 of the Indian Railways Act, which strictly prohibits illegal vending activities on railway property.

In May 2025 alone, the RPF registered 706 cases, resulting in the collection of ₹2,88,670 in penalties. From June 1 to June 10, 2025, an additional 282 cases were booked, yielding fines amounting to ₹96,020. The Commercial Department also played a significant role, registering 195 cases in May and recovering ₹39,250, followed by 131 more cases in early June with ₹38,600 collected in penalties.

The Pune Division has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing these strict enforcement measures to uphold cleanliness and ensure the well-being of passengers. Authorities have also urged the public to avoid purchasing goods from unauthorized vendors, reminding them that doing so is a punishable offense under railway regulations.
