Pune: City is experiencing an unprecedented surge in temperatures, marking the hottest first week of March in the past ten years. Meteorological data reveals that the city’s average maximum temperature this week has reached 36.6°C, significantly exceeding previous years. With temperatures approaching the 40°C threshold, residents should brace for even hotter days ahead.
Recent weather data highlights a sharp rise in maximum temperatures across the city. On Saturday, Shivajinagar recorded a scorching 38°C—3.1°C above normal. Other areas also reported soaring temperatures, with Koregaon Park reaching 39.1°C and Chinchwad peaking at 39.4°C.
IMD data confirms that March 2025’s first week has been the hottest in a decade for Pune, with an average temperature of 36.6°C. A comparison with previous years shows a steady increase in temperatures during the same period:

Other cities across Madhya Maharashtra also reported high temperatures:

According to Pune-based scientist S.D. Sanap, temperatures are expected to rise by another 1-2 degrees in the coming days. Additionally, a slight decrease in nighttime temperatures has been recorded over the past 48 hours.
