Pune: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Pune has once again secured the top position in Maharashtra for settling the highest number of cases through the National Lok Adalat. On Saturday, a total of 1.39 lakh cases were resolved, involving a settlement amount of ₹577 crore.
Over the past four Lok Adalats, Pune has consistently recorded the highest number of case resolutions. Many litigants face prolonged court proceedings, leading to significant time and financial burdens with no certainty of a favorable verdict. The Lok Adalat system, known for its quick and cost-effective resolution process, remains the preferred route for many, as demonstrated by the 1.39 lakh settlements finalized in the recent session.
To facilitate the large volume of settlements, 128 panels were set up under the guidance of Principal District Judge Mahendra Mahajan, who also serves as the Chairperson of DLSA, Pune. A key advantage of Lok Adalat proceedings is that court fees are waived, and any previously paid fees can be recovered as per relevant legal provisions.
“Pune district has retained its top position in resolving Lok Adalat cases. The response from the public was overwhelmingly positive. Since settlements in Lok Adalat are based on mutual agreement, both parties benefit by saving time, money, and effort,” said Sonal Patil, Secretary, DLSA Pune.
