Pune: A 21-year-old woman identified as Taral tragically lost her life after falling from a zipline platform at a recreational facility near Nasrapur on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred around 5:30 PM, raising serious concerns over the safety measures implemented at adventure parks in the region.

According to preliminary reports, Taral was accompanied by her family when she attempted the ziplining activity. While trying to secure her safety harness to the upper railing, she was unable to reach the hook point. In an attempt to connect it, she stood on an iron stool, which reportedly slipped, resulting in her falling nearly 30 feet to the ground.

She was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital in Nasrapur, where she was declared dead on arrival. Local police, led by Sub-Inspector Tukaram Rathod and supervised by Inspector Rajesh Gawli, have launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are probing whether negligence or a lack of proper safety infrastructure contributed to the fatal accident.

The tragedy has sparked public outcry and renewed scrutiny of adventure activities, particularly during the peak summer vacation period. Areas like Bhor and Velhe, which are popular weekend getaways, have witnessed a sharp increase in tourist footfall. However, the adequacy of safety gear, staff training, and emergency preparedness at such venues is now under question.

Ziplining is a recreational adventure sport where participants glide from one elevated point to another along a steel cable using a pulley. Though generally considered safe when operated with proper supervision and equipment, the activity can pose life-threatening risks in the absence of stringent safety protocols.

Officials have assured that a thorough inquiry is underway, and appropriate action will be taken against those found responsible.
