Mumbai: Renowned actor Saif Ali Khan has been seriously injured after being attacked with a knife by a thief at his Bandra residence. The shocking incident took place around 2:30 AM, with initial reports suggesting that the attack was part of an attempted robbery.
The thief reportedly stabbed Saif six times, leaving him critically injured and covered in blood. He was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital for emergency treatment at around 3:30 AM.
Lilavati Hospital’s COO, Dr. Neeraj Uttamani, shared details about Saif’s condition. “One of the knife wounds is near his spine. A team of specialists, including neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain, and anesthetist Dr. Nisha Gandhi, is currently performing surgery on him. The extent of the spinal damage will only be clear post-surgery,” Dr. Uttamani explained.
The attack occurred despite security at Saif’s residence. Preliminary investigations revealed that the thief had entered under the pretext of robbery and attacked Saif when he intervened to protect his housemaid during an altercation with the intruder.
Saif’s condition is currently stable, but his family remains deeply concerned due to the complexity of the surgery. Fans across the country have been praying for his speedy recovery since the news broke.
The identity of the attacker is yet to be ascertained. Police have launched an intensive investigation into this high-profile case, examining CCTV footage from the area for clues.
