Pune: During the Assembly elections, Rs 5 crore in cash was seized at the Khed Shivapur toll booth. However, the Maharashtra State Youth Congress has alleged that neither the police nor the Income Tax Department filed any FIR in the matter, raising serious concerns. They claim that close associates of Sangole MLA Shahaji Patil are linked to the case.
Akshay Jain, Maharashtra State Youth Congress Secretary, said, “We sought key details regarding the seized cash, the progress of the investigation, and related information through the Right to Information (RTI) Act. However, both Pune Rural Police and the Income Tax Department refused to provide information, citing the ongoing investigation. Our first appeal against the denial was rejected, and we are now filing a second appeal.”
