Pune: In a significant breakthrough, the Kondhwa Police have arrested seven individuals suspected of being involved in criminal activities aimed at asserting control in the Trinity College and Bopdev Ghat areas. The arrests were made following a violent altercation on January 16, 2025, which resulted in one person sustaining severe injuries.
The incident occurred when a brawl broke out outside Trinity College, during which one of the individuals was injured with a sharp weapon. A case was filed at the Kondhwa Police Station after the victim lodged a complaint about the attack.
On January 18, the police received a tip-off from a confidential informant regarding the whereabouts of a prime suspect, Namai Raj Ronge. Acting on the information, police officers, including Constables Satish Chavan and Vishal Memane, raided an apartment in Singapore Homes, Yevlewadi. The raid led to the successful apprehension of the suspects and the recovery of four sharp weapons used in the crime.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Bhavesh Balasaheb Kunjir (23) from Hivarkar Mala, Saswad,
Atharva Kailas Pawar (21) from Ghorpadi, Suraj Sachin Raut (21) from Yewalewadi, Aryan Vilas Pawar (18) from Ghorpadi,
Saurabh Pradeep Londhe (18) from Dhankawadi,
Raj Digambar Ronge (19) from Yewalewadi, Baban Bhosle (21) from Jejuri.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the attack. Police also seized several vehicles and sharp weapons, with the total value of the seized items estimated at Rs. 3,80,000. Authorities believe there may be more accomplices involved in the broader criminal activities in the region.
The successful operation was carried out under the leadership of Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar, with the support of Police Inspectors Abdul Rauf Shaikh and Suraj Bendre, as well as Police Sub-Inspector Balaji Digole. Constables Amol Hirve, Satish Chavan, Nilesh Desai, and Vishal Memane also played vital roles in the investigation.
This operation is being hailed as a significant step in addressing criminal activities in the area, and authorities have vowed to continue their efforts to bring criminals to justice. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the criminal network.
