Lonavala: Central Railway will implement a series of special traffic and power blocks between 18th and 20th April 2025 on the Lonavala–Malavali railway section to facilitate the launching of four steel girders for the construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Level Crossing No. 32 (Km 128/16-17). This critical infrastructure upgrade aims to boost safety and operational efficiency on the route.

As part of the special traffic and power block scheduled on Friday, April 18, between 1:05 p.m. and 4:05 p.m., several train services on the Lonavala–Malavali section will be impacted. Train number 22159 CSMT–Chennai Express will be held at Lonavala until 4:05 p.m. Additionally, changes have been made to the suburban EMU services: Pune–Lonavala local (99814) scheduled at 11:17 a.m. and Shivaji Nagar–Lonavala local (99816) at 12:05 p.m. will terminate at Malavali. In return, the Lonavala–Pune (99813) local scheduled at 2:50 p.m. and Lonavala–Shivaji Nagar (99815) at 3:30 p.m. will now originate from Malavali instead of Lonavala.

During the second block on Saturday, April 19, from 1:05 p.m. to 2:35 p.m., suburban train services on the Lonavala–Malavali section will see adjustments. The Shivaji Nagar–Lonavala local (99816), scheduled at 2:50 p.m., will terminate at Malavali instead of Lonavala. Similarly, the Lonavala–Pune local (99813), also scheduled at 2:50 p.m., will originate from Malavali.

The third block on Sunday, April 20, from 1:05 p.m. to 3:05 p.m., will follow the same suburban train service adjustments as Block 2. The 2:50 p.m. Shivaji Nagar–Lonavala local (99816) will terminate at Malavali, while the 2:50 p.m. Lonavala–Pune local (99813) will originate from Malavali.

Railway authorities have advised passengers to plan their journeys accordingly, as the blocks are necessary for the timely execution of the ROB project. Commuters are urged to cooperate during the period to ensure smooth completion of the works with minimal disruption.
