Pune: A thrilling yet alarming scene unfolded in Pune’s Kothrud area as a speeding Mahindra Thar slammed into a row of parked motorcycles near Euphoria Khelaya at around 8:45 PM. The dramatic incident was captured on CCTV and quickly went viral on social media.
According to the police, the driver of the black Thar lost control while speeding near a parking area, crashing into five to six motorcycles that were parked along the roadside. Fortunately, the motorcycles were unoccupied at the time, preventing any injuries or fatalities. However, the damage to the vehicles was significant.
Eyewitnesses described the event as resembling a scene from a Bollywood movie, with the Thar smashing through the bikes before speeding away from the scene. The incident was reported to Alankar Police Station, where one of the affected motorcycle owners filed a formal complaint.
The police have registered a case against the driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act. Authorities are working to trace the vehicle’s owner and identify the absconding driver using registration details.
This incident highlights the growing issue of reckless and potentially drunk driving in Pune’s residential areas, raising concerns over road safety and prompting calls for tougher enforcement of traffic laws.
