Nandurbar: Tension erupted in Nandurbar town late Sunday night due to rumors, leading to incidents of stone pelting in Bismillah Chowk and nearby areas. To disperse the mob and bring the situation under control, the police fired 15 tear gas canisters.
The unrest began earlier in the day when two groups gathered in the Trikoni Building area following an accident where an autorickshaw hit a youth. The police intervened promptly and managed to control the situation at that time. However, rumors spread across different parts of the town later in the night, leading to stone-pelting incidents in sensitive areas, including the Trikoni Building vicinity.
To restore order, the police deployed a large force in the affected areas. Superintendent of Police Shravan Datt S, along with Additional Superintendent of Police Ashit Kamble and other senior officials, rushed to the scene to manage the situation.
The police have begun searching for suspects involved in the stone-pelting incidents. Authorities have urged citizens not to believe in rumors and to maintain peace. Despite the efforts, recurring incidents like these raise concerns about the police’s effectiveness.
Currently, the town remains tense but under control, with a heavy police presence stationed in sensitive areas. Law enforcement officials have increased vigilance to prevent further such incidents and ensure peace in the region.
